Lam Chun Fai

Grand master Lam Chun Fai was born in 1940 in Hong Kong and was given his name by his granduncle, Lam Sai Wing. Grand master Lam Chun Fai started his Hung Ga training at the age of 5, under the guidance of his father, Lam Cho. He trained seven days a week, 6 hours a day (2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon, and 2 hours in the evening). The first set he learned was the Tiger and Crane set (Fu Hok Seung Ying Kyun), which is still one of his favorite sets. Other favorite sets include the Taming the Tiger in an I-Pattern set (Gung Ji Fuk Fu Kyun), the Iron Thread set (Titsin Kyun), Double Dragon Broadswords (Seung Lung Dou), and some two man sets. When Lam Chun Fai was 16 he started to help his father with teaching. He became the chief instructor in the four schools – two on Hong Kong Island and two on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong (one of those being the famed Lam Sai Wing Physical Training School).

Later, at the age of 18, grand master Lam Chun Fai opened up his own kungfu school and bone-setting clinic in Hong Kong.
In 1985 grand master Lam Chun Fai was invited by China to represent Hong Kong as a consultant for the International Wushu Invitational Tournament, which was held in Xi’an.

One year later, in 1986, he was invited again for the 2nd International Wushu Invitational Tournament in Tianjin, but this time to join the traditional gungfu competition. At this tournament he performed Fu Hok Seung Ying Kyun and Seung Lung Dou, which won him an award for the most distinctive performance and a gold medal. Furthermore, in 2004 grand master Lam Chun Fai, already being at respectable age,  joined the First World Traditional Wushu Festival in Zhengzhou. In both categories he joined he won a gold medal.
Through the years grand master Lam Chun Fai has frequently been invited to give demonstrations, lead seminars, and give private lessons all over the world. Nowadays, he mostly only teaches private lessons and promotes kungfu in Hong Kong magazines and television.
